Geographic & Political position

Kudassanad is a beautiful village situated in the eastern end of Alappuzha District and western part of Pathanamthitta District.  Southern side of this village is very near to the Kollam District.  Our village is part of Palamel Panchayat which is under the Alappuzha region. The place forms part of the Mavelikara Parliamentary and Pandalam Assembly Constituencies.

How to reach Kudassanad Village

Our village is around 4 Km from Pandalam Town, where MC Road passes and 5 Km from Nooranad where Kayamkulam-Punalur Road (KP Road) is crossing.

Our village is almost in middle of Cochin City and Trivandrum City (both around 110Kms).

From NH-47 If you are coming through NH 47 Road (National Highway 47- which connecting Cochin & Trivandrum), first you have to reach Kayamkulam town.  Then get a bus from there to Kudassanad (many private buses doing transport service in the route of Kayamkulam- Charumoodu – Noornad(or Nooranadu) – Kudassanad – Pandalam).

Another option is get a bus (both Private & Public buses) from Kayamkulam – Adoor, or any bus starting from kayamkulam, which going along KP Road (Kayamkulam- Punalur Road) and step down in Nooranad town.  From Noornadu, it’ll take just 5 minutes drive to reach our beautiful place.

From MC Road If you are traveling through MC Road, you have to step down in Pandalam town. From there, you can easily get private buses and cabs to our village.

General Details.

We got some good schools, like N.S.S.H.S, Govt. Primary School and 4-5 private Schools running mainly by Christian Educational Trusts.  People are living in a harmony and well educated. Many people from our village migrated to Gulf countries, US & UK for better jobs and they bring good fortunes to our village.  Till the mid 80’s there was good farming, which slowly reduced as most of the new generation were focused on academic & technical skills for their living.

Political Scenario

Political parties have strong grip in the place, yet people are enough intelligent to choose representatives on their ability to satisfy the local needs than the emotional attachments to Political parties.  We can’t say, natives are biased to a specific political party.

In Films & Our Talents

The most notable thing about Kudassanad is it’s richness in Natural beauty, which inviting Cinema production units again and again to here.  Some movies picturized here are Kaakkothikaavile appuppan thaadikal, Lalsalaam, Anadaram, etc. and one famous old movie named “pani teeraatha veedu” (I am not sure about movie name, as it is a very old movie in Black and white.  The main actor was Balan.K.Nair)

Our small village is the home of a notable young film director named Dr.Biju Kumar who directed “Saira”.  Also, we got a talented photographer, who is working for teleserials and all, fondly called as “Haraman”.

Social Clubs

There are some small Arts & sports clubs formed by youngsters and a club for Ex-service men also there.  A group NRIs started a club called KOSS.  Apart from this small groups are active based on Churches and Temples.
